2012 Lithuanian Open

Describe the photo or the page it links to

The Lithuanian Open is one of very few matches that are a must for the core of Team Capsicum. No shooting trip offer better value for money than this one. Unfortunately didn't make it in time for the flight due to some pressing buisness.

The match was 20 stages 340 rounds so it is a good size match by any measure. The stages this year were a little "easier" than previous years. This range contain two ca 50x50m bays with unlimited possibilites to make challanging stages, unfortunately this years match didn't utilize that posibility to the fullest.

The stages tested all or skills and were really fun to shoot. I had broken a safety on my primary gun (something us lefties do occationally) so for the first time in 4 years i was shooting a match with my backup. My backup has the old plastic grip and I had not fully tested the magazine setup to run with that gun and had two malfunctions due to that. I shot a decent match and finished second.

I really look forward to the 2013 edition and I urge everybody I know that like IPSC to travel to Lithuania and enjoy a good trip.

Where to stay

We've always stayed at Hotel Daniela wich is right downtown Kaunas, walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

Where to eat

In Kaunas we'll walk down the walking street and pick the most popular restaurarnt with a good view ;-)

In Vilnius (most will travel through Vilnius) you have some really good restaurants. We like meat so Marcus and El Gaucho Sano are top of the line.

What to see

Travelling to matches doesn't allow much time for sightseeing but if you have the chance go and visit Fort 9 i Kaunas. It a place used by the Germans during WWII.

In Vilnius - Walking up to the city tower and strolling through old town is recommended.
